(Photo: UNCP Athletics) Stacey Scott (23) scored two goals for UNCP in their win over Georgia Southwestern “The minute you take an opponent lightly in the PBC, you will be punished for it.” UNCP women’s soccer head coach Lars Andersson understands how important it is to play at a high level in every Peach Belt Conference matchup. Georgia Southwestern is more familiar with the program’s commitment to that principle than anyone else. The Braves (5-3, 3-1 PBC) remained undefeate

One thing the Braves have been able to count on consistently is their ability to keep opposing quarterbacks under pressure. That is due in part to the efforts of UNCP’

With 24 minutes left in its game against No.2 Columbus State, it appeared that the UNCP women’s soccer team had a good chance of pulling off the upset. The Braves (3-3-0, 1-1-0 PBC) led 1-0 at that point after freshman Alexis Pittman found the back of the net in the 60th minute. Goalkeeper Gina Ryan, who weathered seven attempted shots from the Cougars (4-1-0, 2-1-0 PBC) within the first 15 minutes of the second half, was keeping the hosts off the scoreboard. Suddenly, the mo

(Photo: UNCP Athletics) Tusculum's Gabe Shillings collides with JoJo Spann during the open kickoff on Saturday night. Shillings forced a fumble with the hit. For the first few seconds of the opening kickoff on Saturday night, it appeared that UNCP would avoid a slow start similar to the ones in its two previous home games. Senior receiver JoJo Spann returned the kick 50 yards, but Tusculum kicker Gabe Shillings stripped him of the ball before he could go any farther. Alex Ogl
