Kappa Delta Hosts Annual Pancake Dinner
UNCP’s Kappa Delta Epsilon Zeta chapter put on an all-you-can-eat pancake dinner for the benefit of PCAA (Prevent Child Abuse America) at Berea Baptist Church on March 25th.
The Kappa Deltas raised over $3,000 dollars for the organization through the event.
“Every year we have an event to raise money for the North Carolina chapter of PCAA,” said Kappa Delta member, Kelli Allen. “We do a week long thing where we have a table in the UC and put up flyers explaining the event and the statistics of child abuse and how we can raise awareness of it and help parents with parenting skills.”
PCAA is an organization committed to the betterment of children, acting to establish measures with which to keep children safe and to guide them into a future of promise and success.
“Founded in 1972 in Chicago, Prevent Child Abuse America works to promote the healthy development of children and prevent child abuse before it can occur in order to help children to grow up and contribute in their communities," according to preventchildabuse.org.
The organization is very active and works to educate individuals on child rearing by equipping parents with suggestions and practical tools.
PCAA helps nearly 100,000 families per year, according to preventchildabuse.org.
The plates were priced at $5 each.
