Tips to Beat Stress

Do you find yourself overwhelmed with too much of a workload?

Does it feel like you have too much to do and not enough time to do it?

These may be symptoms of poor time management skills.

Time management is something many people struggle with. Between work, school and personal lives, the tasks we face can easily pile up before we realize it.

When you learn to maintain proper time management, you may have more time to relax, which also decreases stress and anxiety.

Here are seven tips to improve time management and increase productivity:

TIP #1:

Schedule and Prioritize

Carry a planner or notebook with you and list all the things you need to do. First, list tasks that need your

immediate attention, then take care of the less important tasks later.

TIP #2:

Start Early

The earlier you start, the sooner you will finish. This will allow you to work at your own pace and fix any

errors you might make along the way.

TIP #3:

Set Deadlines

When you have a task at hand, set a realistic deadline and stick to it. Try to set a deadline a few days before it is due, just in case something else pops up.

TIP #4:

Avoid Procrastination

One golden rule to remember: if it can be done today, DO IT TODAY.

TIP #5:

Take Breaks

Whenever you feel yourself getting overwhelmed, take a break for 10-15 minutes. Too much stress can take a toll on your body and affect your productivity. Take a walk, grab a snack or listen to some music.

TIP #6:

Set Boundaries

It is okay to decline plans with friends to finish your work. Work now, play later.

TIP #7:

Reward Yourself

Once you’ve completed everything on your task list, take the time to celebrate. Make sure you do something you enjoy. But don’t do it in excess, and don’t let it cause you to get further behind.

Developing excellent time management skills takes practice and discipline. You must find what works best for you.
