The event was rescheduled from its original date of September 27 to October 4 due to inclement weather.
Pembroke Day is a collaboration between the university and the town of Pembroke.
It presents itself as an opportunity for students to learn about businesses and resources within the area and for the community to learn more about the university.
Vendors representing local businesses and nonprofits set up tents and booths in the Quad between Old Main and the Mary Livermore Library and offered food, crafts, promotional giveaways and informational materials. Student clubs, campus organizations, academic departments and university programs participated as well.
Student Health Services held a health fair that included free health screenings while Walgreens offered vaccinations inside of Old Main. Several health agencies, including Scotland Health Center, had representatives on hand to answer questions and provide information on a variety of topics, such as birth control and health insurance.
A drive was also set up to accept canned food items, cleaning supplies, baby products and hygiene items, which will be donated to those affected by the devastating impacts of Hurricane Florence.
A relief fund has been created to assist students and employees.
