New Café at Library Deserves Checking Out

There’s a new eatery on campus: Café 641 is the university’s latest addition to dine around campus, located in the Mary Livermore Library.

The café serves soups, salads, sandwiches, and even Belgian waffles.

They also carry coffee and smoothies. It’s just another great reason to save up those flex dollars.

Retail Manager of Sodexo Kevin Lee said Café 641 was nothing but positive; it has only been open for roughly three weeks and the feedback is exceptional.

In the future, meal replacements will be able to be used.

Debra Locklear, an employee at Café 641 said that the restaurant is ALWAYS busy, serving over 100 people a day!

Hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.

Locklear recommended that students try the Siciliano, which consists of ham, salami, provolone cheese and veggies. She also recommended two of their most popular waffles: the Red Velvet waffle with cream cheese drizzle and whipped cream, and the Chocolate Covered Strawberry waffle with strawberry and chocolate drizzle and whipped cream.

All salads, sandwiches and waffles are fresh and made daily.

“I’m not a fan of all the extras; I prefer just a plain waffle with syrup. Even though it’s not on the menu, it was available for me and I absolutely enjoyed it. And for $3, who could beat it,” said sophomore Brandon Snead.

Overall, Café 641 is an asset to UNC Pembroke and the community.

Make sure to stop in for a good lunch and get some studying and homework done as the semester comes to a close.
