The UNCP men’s basketball team returned to the state of Georgia and bounced back into the win column when they took down the Jaguars of Augusta University 93-88.
The Braves handed the Jags their first loss on their home court and just their second conference loss of the season with the help of 40 points from the team’s deep and talented bench. UNCP has now won 13 of their last 15 games that they’ve played in Georgia and four-straight against Augusta.
Unlike their loss to the Bobcats, the Black and Gold rebounded from a poor shooting performance at the Centennial Center with a highly proficient one in the Christenberry Fieldhouse. They shot just over 60 percent in this contest after shooting below 50 percent in their last outing, including an impressive 66.67 percentage in the first half alone going 14-21 from the field.
After nearly building a double-digit lead over their hosts, the Black and Gold found themselves trailing by two points heading into halftime after they let Augusta go on a 15-3 scoring run in the last three minutes of the opening half. The Braves trailed for nearly half of the second stanza before they went on a 15-2 scoring jaunt to regain the lead and they did not trail the rest of the way.
