UNCP's new eatery on campus is helping students stay refreshed while studying. Café 641 opened in the Mary Livermore Library last semester.
The variety of options on the menu have caught students’ attention and the new hours have made it easier to visit in between classes.
Operating hours are: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., as well as Friday 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“As a worker in the library, the times are very convenient for my schedule, and I love enjoying the food while studying,” senior Melissa Mojica-Cruz said.
The waffles are a popular menu item for most students. They offer PB & J, chocolate-covered strawberry, red velvet, southern sweet potato and birthday cake waffles.
“The red velvet waffles are my favorite and the mango smoothies really helped me get through exam week,” senior Evalyne Muhia said.
The smoothie selection is a healthy option for students because there are fruit smoothies, fitness smoothies, and fruit and yogurt varieties.
During final exams in December, Café 641 and the library extended their hours. This gave students the opportunity to focus in a quiet setting while enjoying their food.
“I am glad they extended their hours during exams, it was nice to be able to enjoy the waffles while under so much stress,” junior Tyler Oxendine said.
Café 641 is also offering more breakfast selections, such as biscuits and gravy, grits, cinnamon rolls, muffins and a southern style biscuit.
“The new hours aren’t convenient for my work schedule, but I really enjoy the news breakfast items that they are offering to get my day started,” junior Duncan Younger said.
The café on campus also has a variety of signature sandwiches and coffee.
The new Starbucks promotion allows students to stop by Starbucks and use their receipt to receive a 50 percent discount on a Starbucks featured coffee at Café 641.
