Baseball Goes 2-1 in Weekend Series With USC Aiken

After some really close and nail-biting games in this past month, the UNCP baseball team have managed to muster up a two-game win streak after beating the USC Aiken Pacers in a three-game weekend series 2-1 at Roberto Hernandez Stadium in Aiken, S.C. from March 29-31. Game 1: In the opening game of the series the Braves took advantage of the many mistakes in which the Pacers committed that placed the Braves in advantageous situations in which they rallied three runs at the top of the ninth to knot the score up at 12-12 with a chance to secure the win but unfortunately fell short following a walk-off homer by their hosts in the bottom of ninth. Game 2: The Braves got back on track in game two when they went back and forth with USC Aiken but would not be denied the win after accumulating four runs and would hold the Pacers back with an excellent defensive effort to end the game with the score of 10-6. Game 3: The final game of the series was nowhere near as competitive as the first to at any point as the Braves rolled over their Peach Belt Conference opponents on their way to a 15-3 series-sealing victory. The Black and Gold came out swing with an outstanding barrage of scoring as they totaled 14 hits and their pitchers were lights out on the mound as they only yielded three runs on the day.
