UNCP Received $6.2 Million in CARES Act Funding
UNCP has received $6.2 million through the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Aid. Out of the funds, $3.1 million has been allocated for emergency assistance for students. To be eligible for assistance, students must have been enrolled during the Spring or Fall 2020 semester, eligible to receive federal financial aid and completed FAFSA. Students who graduated in Spring 2020 are also eligible.
The purpose of the money is to help alleviate hardships that students may have experienced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds are available as a one-time award for the Fall 2020 semester and applicants must include the reason for their hardship. Those reasons range from food insecurity, various housing needs, technology needs, transportation, but applicants are not limited to these criteria.
Students who are eligible can apply by clicking here. Since funding is limited, students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. As of June 26, 2020, UNCP has dispersed $2,413,100 in CARES Act funding to 3,638 students.
