UNCP held in-person graduation ceremonies for the first time since the Fall 2019 commencement. Students were originally permitted only two guests, but a last-minute change allowed them to have up to six. On Friday evening, approximately 600 people were in attendance as 300 graduate school students received their diplomas. On Saturday, campus hosted almost 5,000 individuals to celebrate the 700 most recent UNCP alumni as they received their undergraduate degrees. Sheila Cummings gave the commencement speech at both ceremonies. A native of Pembroke, Cummings is the founder, president and Chief Executive Officer of Cummings Aerospace, Inc. The graduation ceremonies were held on the Quad between Old Main and the Mary Livermore Library.
